Applique Onsies

During a visit to St. George, my sister and I decided
to try making some applique onsies.
I've only made these two to start with,
but will definitely be making more in the future.
There are just so many differnt things to do, it's hard to choose just one.

I used Wonder Under to adhere the pattern
onto the onsie, and then did just a straight
stitch around to give it a more finished look
(and to hold the pattern in place in case
the Wonder Under fails!)
*One thing I would recommed is that you
put the onsie on your baby for a bit before
you place and sew on the pattern.
Wade stretched out his onsies quite a bit after
wearing them, so the pattern came out in a totally
differnt place then I had intended.*

Cupcake Pin Cushion

About once a month or so all us girls will
get together for lunch and a craft project.
A few months ago we all made cupcake pin cushions!
This is the pattern we used.
Mine is a little pathetic, they are a little tricky to sew,
especially your first one.

Ladies, we all made one of these so I expect to see
pictures of yours on here soon!

Purse

After my sister made my Mom an awesome handbag/purse,
I fell in love and wanted to make my own.
(Shelly, that project would make a wonderful post!)
While enjoying a sisters weekend in St. George,
I found the perfect pattern. Once I got home
I had a few days to myself while Wade was still gone,
so I decided to do the whole thing in about one day,
not something I will ever do again.

I got my fabric at Material Girls.
It seemed like a good choice at the time,
but I don't much care for it now that's it together.
I didn't pay attention to the pattern and bought the
wrong kind of interfacing, and I didn't sew my handles
together corectly, so the bag is pretty trashed
after only a few months use.
I will definitely be making another one soon!

Eddy's Football Blanket

For Eddy's 2nd birthday I decided to make him an
awesome football blanket. I got my idea from a shop in Etsy,
but they are no longer in business.
Anyways, I didn't even buy the pattern and just
ended up making my own up.
After all, it's only an oval, pretty basic stuff here.

The football itself is brown fleece
and the "laces" is just white fabric (I think?).
I cut out the laces freehand, used a temporary
fabric spray adhesive to place them on the football,
and then used an applique stitch on my sewing machine
to go around the edges. Pretty sweet stuff!
Happy 2nd Birthday Eddy!

Minkee Blanket

This was my very first project on my own sewing machine!
I had found some super cute fabric in Gardner Village
back in the Fall and had been wanting to make a
blanket with it, I just wasn't exactly sure how to do it.
So I made up my own blanket after viewing this tutorial.
The front is made up from only 4 fat quarters,
and I think I used 1 3/4 yards of red minkee for the
back and binding. Since I had no idea what I was doing
and making things up as I went,
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

By the way, if you do watch the tutorial there are
10 segments, I only linked to the first.

More Baby Shoes

Shortly after Wade was born I found these shoes online
and knew he needed some! There was no way I was going
to pay $25, so I figured if somebody else made
them, why couldn't I. I used this pattern as my starting
point and then just added the second strap.
I also used info from that same site to teach myself
how to knit, as well as a few videos off You Tube
(it's really not that hard to learn!). Here is the end result:

I love these little booties oh so much.
They are time consuming to make (especially your
first pair) but so worth it!
I will definitely be making some more of these!

Baby Shoes!

My crafty gene kicked in when I was pregnant and became
obsessed with baby shoes. I found a free pattern here
and then went to town. If you remember I made you all a pair once.

I liked this pattern because it's pretty easy
and there are many different things you can do to mix it up
(like cute buttons and bows!).
Something I definitely want to make more of later.

Ladies....

Instead of doing my own personal project blog we are all going to be doing one together. We have the All Things Crafty site to save our projects we would like to do, and now you can show them off once they are complete! Any questions? Good. Now go get crafting!
